Bandits Kill Five, Abduct Others in Wurno Communities
Armed bandits have attacked three communities in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing at least five people and abducting an unspecified number of residents.
The affected communities are Dinawa, Munƙi and Gidan Dare, where the attackers reportedly struck simultaneously during a heavy downpour.
According to a source, in Dinawa, the bandits reportedly launched the attack at about 10:30 p.m., moving from house to house, looting valuables and destroying properties.
Five residents were reportedly killed in the attack, while several others were taken away by the assailants.
Residents alleged that the attackers arrived in the community in an unidentified vehicle and began their operation as the heavy rainfall provided cover.
The bandits also reportedly attacked Munƙi and Gidan Dare, where they rustled an unspecified number of cattle and stole valuables belonging to residents.
The latest attacks have heightened concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Sokoto State, with residents calling for urgent action to protect communities and prevent further loss of lives and property.
