Shagari Applauds Sokoto Gov’s Development Efforts, Seeks Public Support

Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, has commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for what he described as meaningful interventions across key sectors of the state.

Shagari, in a statement issued by his media aide, Musa Ubandawaki, said the administration had shown commitment to improving the welfare of residents and creating the foundation for sustainable development.

He highlighted developments in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, social welfare and environmental sanitation, saying the impact of the government’s programmes was gradually becoming evident across the state.

According to him, the rehabilitation of schools and provision of learning materials and facilities would help strengthen the education sector and prepare young people for the future.

He also welcomed the government’s agricultural support programmes, particularly the distribution of fertiliser and pesticides to farmers.

He said such interventions were important for increasing agricultural production, improving food security and reducing poverty among rural communities.

On healthcare, Shagari commended efforts to upgrade medical infrastructure and improve access to essential services. He described healthcare as a critical component of human and economic development.

The former deputy governor also praised programmes aimed at supporting vulnerable people, orphans and disadvantaged families, saying such initiatives reflected concern for the wellbeing of residents.

Shagari said investments in roads, water supply, housing, markets and electricity were contributing to the transformation of Sokoto’s physical and economic environment.

He noted that improved infrastructure would facilitate the movement of people and goods, expand economic opportunities and make the state more attractive to investors.

He equally commended efforts to improve sanitation and environmental cleanliness in Sokoto metropolis, while calling on residents to support the government by disposing of waste properly and protecting public facilities.

Appeal for Unity

Shagari urged the people of Sokoto State to support the government irrespective of political or ethnic differences, stressing that development required collective participation.

He said the government could initiate projects and programmes, but their success and sustainability depended on the cooperation of citizens.

“Sokoto belongs to all of us. Its progress must therefore be a shared mission. Let us put aside unnecessary divisions and work together to build a state that future generations will be proud to inherit” he said.

Shagari expressed confidence that continued government commitment, combined with public cooperation, would help move Sokoto State towards greater economic, educational and infrastructural development.
