Kwankwaso Condemns Sheikh Jingir’s Remarks, Says Kano People Reject Divisive Rhetoric

A former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has condemned comments attributed to Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir at an event in Kano over the weekend, describing them as divisive and capable of undermining national unity.
Kwankwaso, in a statement, said he was deeply concerned by the remarks, particularly coming from a prominent religious leader with considerable influence.
He urged political and religious leaders to uphold truth, promote unity and work towards reconciliation, rather than make statements capable of deepening divisions in the country.
“At this critical moment in our nation’s history, statements that promote division and disunity must be firmly discouraged,” Kwankwaso said.
He further stated that the people of Kano should not be associated with what he described as divisive rhetoric.
“Let it be clearly stated: the good people of Kano do not endorse or support these divisive remarks,” he said.
Kwankwaso stressed that leaders across political and religious spheres have a responsibility to protect the unity and stability of Nigeria.
He also said the 2027 general elections would provide Nigerians with an opportunity to assess the performance of the current administration and decide whether to retain or reject it.
“The 2027 general elections will be an opportunity for Nigerians to reward good governance with resounding support and to reject poor performance at the polls. This administration has earned the latter,” he said.
