Tinubu Dissolves Presidential Committee on Sale of Federal Government Properties

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate dissolution of the Presidential Implementation Committee (PIC) on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties, bringing to an end the operations of a committee established over two decades ago to oversee the disposal of federal landed assets.
The Presidency announced on Thursday that all matters relating to the activities of the dissolved committee will henceforth be coordinated by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the committee was established in 2000 during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to supervise the privatisation, sale and lease of Federal Government landed properties under the government’s monetisation policy.
The statement explained that after a review of the committee’s operations, the Federal Government concluded that the PIC had exceeded its original mandate, resulting in multiple litigations across the country, making its continued existence unjustifiable.
President Tinubu consequently directed that the committee be dissolved, with effect from November 5, 2025, and ordered that all outstanding matters be handled by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.
The President also directed the former Secretary of the committee, B. S. Dutsin-Ma, to immediately cease acting on behalf of the dissolved committee and the Federal Government on matters relating to its activities.
The Presidency said the decision is aimed at streamlining the management of issues concerning the alienation of Federal Government properties under the supervision of the Attorney General of the Federation.
