ADC to Tinubu: Kaiama, Borno Victims Also Matter, Demands Equal Attention to Insecurity

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to demonstrate equal concern for all victims of insecurity across Nigeria, insisting that communities affected by kidnappings and attacks in Kwara, Borno, Zamfara, Benue and Kebbi deserve the same urgency shown in the rescue of abductees in Oyo State.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC expressed concern over what it described as a pattern of “selective attention” to insecurity, warning that such an approach could create the impression that some Nigerian lives matter more than others.

The opposition party specifically called on the President to provide updates on the 176 residents of Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, who were abducted on February 3, 2026, and have remained in captivity for more than five months.

The party also highlighted the recent abduction of 40 residents, mostly women and children, from communities in Zamfara State, renewed attacks in Benue State, the kidnapping of Kebbi State High Court Judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, and continued insurgent attacks in Borno State as evidence that insecurity remains a major national challenge.

According to the ADC, Nigerians deserve regular information on efforts being made to rescue victims across the country rather than general assurances that security challenges will soon be overcome.

“The President must ensure that his actions do not create the impression that the value of a Nigerian life depends on where the victim comes from or whether the tragedy attracts national headlines.”

The party said the peaceful protest recently staged by residents of Kaiama reflected the frustration of families who believe their abducted loved ones have been forgotten.

It questioned the government’s progress in securing the release of those still in captivity and called for greater transparency in rescue efforts.

“The President owes Nigerians more than broad assurances. He owes them regular updates, timelines and evidence that no Nigerian community has been abandoned.”

The ADC further argued that repeated promises on ending insecurity were no longer enough without visible results on the ground.

“Hope cannot survive indefinitely on declarations alone. There comes a point when repeated assurances, unaccompanied by visible results, cease to reassure” the statement concluded.
