Sokoto APC Bans Campaign Posters on Roundabouts, Public Monuments

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has ordered all its aspirants and candidates seeking elective positions to desist from pasting campaign posters on roundabouts, flyovers, public monuments and other government owned facilities across the state.
The directive, contained in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Umar, followed growing concerns over the defacement of newly constructed and beautified public infrastructure in Sokoto metropolis and its environs.
APC State Chairman, Haruna S. G. Adiya, said the party would not tolerate any act capable of undermining the state government’s efforts to preserve the aesthetic value of public spaces.
He described the indiscriminate display of campaign posters on public structures as an irresponsible act that amounts to environmental abuse, visual pollution and disrespect for public property.
According to him, the Sokoto State Government has committed substantial resources to the construction and beautification of public facilities, stressing that political campaigns must not come at the expense of those investments.
Adiya directed all APC candidates and their campaign teams to immediately remove campaign posters already pasted on roundabouts and other public monuments, warning against any further violations.
He warned that anyone who disobeys the directive would face disciplinary action in accordance with the APC constitution and the party’s internal regulations.
“The APC remains committed to promoting responsible political engagement, and no member is above party discipline” he said.
The party chairman also appealed to APC supporters and members of the public to support efforts to protect public infrastructure by reporting incidents of poster vandalism and environmental abuse to the appropriate authorities and the party’s disciplinary committee.
