The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, has felicitated with the people of the Sokoto Caliphate on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, while assuring residents of adequate security before, during and after the festivities.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the PPRO, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i after a tactical meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical teams, the Commissioner outlined measures put in place to ensure a peaceful celebration across the state.
CP Shaffa said the Command has intensified patrols and intelligence-led surveillance around Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks and other critical locations.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or objects around crowded places, while warning against unauthorized gatherings and processions without security clearance.
The Police Commissioner also announced restrictions around prayer grounds, stressing that unauthorized vehicles, firearms, sharp objects and intoxicants would not be allowed at event venues.
He further warned against reckless driving, illegal fireworks and celebratory gunshots during the Sallah period, describing such acts as dangerous and criminal.
According to him, security monitoring will continue throughout the celebration, especially around Arkilla Road behind the Polytechnic and Bafarawa Estates.
CP Shaffa called on traditional rulers, religious leaders and residents to support security agencies by maintaining peace and order throughout the festivities.
