The Sokoto State Government has sealed the African Democratic Congress (ADC ) campaign office in the state capital over an unresolved dispute concerning the ownership of the property.

The Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Barr. Nasir Aliyu Dantsoho, announced the decision during a visit to the premises on Monday, November 2 2026.

Dantsoho said the visit was intended to inform the public that the state government was fully in control of its affairs and that its authority must be respected.

He recalled that misunderstandings reportedly occurred last week between supporters of different political parties, including allegations that some miscreants operating from within the ADC campaign office disrupted APC activities.

According to him, a review of the property’s Certificate of Occupancy and other relevant documents indicated that Savannah Bank was the registered owner, with no subsequent change reflected in the available records.

He explained that the state government had consequently written to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) seeking clarification on the rightful ownership of the property, but was yet to receive an official response.

Dantsoho said the decision to seal the building was a temporary measure aimed at protecting lives and property while the government awaited clarification from the NDIC.

He called on anyone claiming ownership of the property to come forward with the necessary legal documents for verification and appropriate government documentation.

The commissioner warned that anyone attempting to forcefully gain access to the sealed property would face appropriate legal action, including possible prosecution.

He maintained that the property would remain under the custody of the Sokoto State Government pending the NDIC’s response and the resolution of the ownership dispute.
