BUA Cement has extended N12 million in financial assistance to the families of eight people who died in a road accident along the Kajiji-Tambuwal Road in Sokoto State.
Each of the eight bereaved families received N1.5 million from the company as part of efforts to support them following the fatal crash, which reportedly involved a commercial minibus carrying 13 passengers and a BUA Cement truck.
The accident reportedly claimed eight lives, including that of a child.
The company’s management visited the affected families in Tambuwal to present the assistance, accompanied by the District Head of Tambuwal, Alhaji Ahmad Dahiru, and the Chairman of Tambuwal Local Government Area, Hon. Abba Shehu Tambuwal.
The traditional ruler and the council chairman commended BUA Cement for the intervention, describing it as a compassionate response to the suffering of families who lost their loved ones.
They particularly appreciated the company for extending the support despite reports that its truck was not responsible for the accident.
According to the two leaders, the gesture reflects the importance of corporate social responsibility and the need for businesses to stand with communities during difficult times.
They also called on other corporate organisations to emulate the initiative by providing assistance to families affected by fatal accidents and other emergencies.
While acknowledging that no amount of money could compensate for the lives lost, they expressed hope that the financial support would help the affected families meet some of their immediate needs.
The leaders prayed for Allah to reward the company for its generosity, forgive the deceased, grant them eternal rest and give their families the patience and strength to endure the loss.
The donation represents a humanitarian intervention at a time when the affected households are mourning their loved ones and coping with the consequences of the tragedy.
It also underscores the importance of corporate support and collaboration with traditional and local government institutions in providing relief to communities affected by unexpected disasters.
