NSCDC Ushers in New Leadership as Maidamma Takes Charge in Kebbi

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has entered a new leadership phase in Kebbi State with the official assumption of office by Commandant Hassan Mohammed Maidamma as the 17th substantive State Commandant of the command.
Maidamma assumed office on Monday, October 26, 2026, during a handing-over ceremony at the State Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, succeeding the retired Commandant KA Alkamawa.
In his inaugural address, Maidamma expressed appreciation to the Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to strengthen professionalism, improve operational effectiveness and enhance the command’s response to emerging security challenges.
He said his administration would prioritise the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, safeguarding lives and property, disaster prevention and management, and effective supervision of private guard companies.
The new commandant also identified intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration and stronger engagement with host communities as key strategies for preventing crime and maintaining peace across Kebbi State.
He called on officers and men of the command to uphold discipline, integrity, accountability, professionalism and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
Maidamma further assured personnel that their welfare, continuous training and improved operational efficiency would receive priority attention, noting that a motivated and well-trained workforce was essential to the effective implementation of the Corps’ mandate.
He urged residents of Kebbi State to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and protecting lives and property.
The new commandant also warned criminal elements to abandon unlawful activities, assuring that the command would collaborate with sister security agencies to apprehend offenders and ensure appropriate legal action against them.
Earlier, the outgoing commandant, KA Alkamawa, expressed gratitude to the Commandant General, the Kebbi State Government, residents, sister security agencies and personnel of the command for their support throughout his tenure.
Alkamawa urged stakeholders to extend similar cooperation to his successor to sustain the achievements recorded during his administration and strengthen security in the state.
The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, securing critical national infrastructure and promoting peaceful coexistence in Kebbi State, while calling on government institutions, traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organisations and the media to sustain their partnership with the Corps.
