NDC to Unveil National Campaign Council, Present Financial Statement at NEC Meeting
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says it will unveil its National Campaign Council and disclose its financial statement at its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Monday, October 26, in Abuja.
The party said the move underscores its commitment to transparency and accountability, urging other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to adopt similar measures in disclosing their financial records.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq.
According to the statement, the meeting will take place at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, opposite A-Class Park, Maitama, Abuja.
The party disclosed that its National Treasurer would present its statement of account during the meeting, describing the exercise as part of its commitment to openness in financial management.
It also challenged the APC and other political parties to follow its example by making their financial records accessible to the public.
Addressing concerns over its financial capacity, the NDC attributed its limited resources partly to the economic difficulties facing the country, claiming that approximately 80 per cent of its candidates could not afford expression of interest forms.
The party said it provided the forms free of charge to the affected candidates to enable them to participate in the electoral process.
The NDC also announced that the meeting would feature the unveiling of its National Campaign Council, which would coordinate campaigns for the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.
In addition, candidates of the party would receive certificates of return for their respective positions.
Reaffirming its readiness for the 2027 general elections, the NDC said it was committed to providing Nigerians with what it described as selfless and people-oriented leadership.
The party expressed confidence in its preparations for the elections and reiterated its determination to present an alternative leadership direction for the country.
