Tinubu Condemns Maiduguri Attacks, Commiserates with Borno People
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commiserated with the people of Borno State following the recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, describing the incident as deeply upsetting and tragic.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the President expressed sorrow over the loss of lives, sympathised with those injured, and reaffirmed his solidarity with residents of the state during this difficult period.
President Tinubu described the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts” by terrorist groups seeking to instil fear, noting that such actions reflect the pressure being mounted on them by Nigerian security forces across various operations.
He praised the bravery and resilience of the military and civilian joint task forces, particularly for successfully repelling coordinated assaults on military formations in the state.
The President assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to intensifying efforts to eliminate all forms of terrorism, stressing that no part of the country will serve as a safe haven for criminal elements.
He further disclosed that he recently approved additional military equipment and operational support to strengthen the capacity of security agencies. According to him, the deployment process is already underway.
As part of immediate response measures, President Tinubu has directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to take full control of the situation, while also instructing emergency response agencies to provide adequate medical care and support to victims.
Reaffirming his administration’s stance, the President declared that Nigeria will not bow to fear, vowing that terrorists will be tracked, confronted, and ultimately defeated.
