Nine Abducted, Two Injured as Bandits Raid Sokoto Community
Armed bandits have kidnapped nine people and left two others injured following a latenight attack on Chacho community in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The incident happened on Wednesday night at about 11:00 p.m., when the assailants reportedly invaded the villagefiring gunshots and causing panic among residents.
A local source, who requested anonymity, disclosed that the attackers entered the community through a route connected to the Sabon-Birni forest, a location widely associated with bandit activities in the region.
According to the source, residents were caught off guard while asleep, forcing many to flee into safety as gunfire echoed across the village.
“They came suddenly and started shooting. People ran in different directions to escape, the source said.
The attackers reportedly abducted seven women and two elderly men, while two other individuals sustained injuries during the chaos and are currently receiving treatment.
Residents have decried the persistent insecurity in the area, calling for urgent deployment of security personnel to prevent further attacks
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmad Rufai, said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact number of victims and circumstances surrounding the attack.
