Multiple Explosions Hit Maiduguri, Panic Among Residents

Residents of Maiduguri were thrown into panic on Monday evening after a series of explosions occurred in different parts of the city.

According to reports by Daily Trust, the blasts were suspected to have been caused by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) allegedly planted by terrorists linked to Boko Haram.

The explosions reportedly occurred near the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, the Monday Market Roundabout, and around Elkanemi Warriors Stadium.
Eyewitnesses said the first blast was heard at about 7 p.m., shortly after Muslims broke their fast, sending shock and fear across the city.

As of the time of this report, authorities had not confirmed any casualties from the explosions.

The incident happened hours after suspected insurgents reportedly launched an attack on a military position in Ajilari on the outskirts of the city. During the attack, parts of the facility were allegedly set ablaze and a military patrol vehicle was taken.

Security sources, however, said troops were able to repel the assault, killing several of the attackers while others fled with gunshot wounds.

More details are expected as the situation develops.
