FG, Sokoto Govt Partner to Tackle Insecurity – Gov. Aliyu
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has reaffirmed that both the Federal Government and the Sokoto State Government are working closely together to address insecurity in the state.
The Governor made this known on Friday while paying Sallah homage to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, at his palace shortly after the Eid prayers.
Governor Aliyu explained that his administration has continued to provide logistical support and other assistance to conventional security agencies, as well as the State Community Guard Corps, to strengthen security operations across Sokoto State.
He called on residents to support government efforts and cooperate with security agencies in the fight against banditry, while also urging prayers for security personnel deployed to volatile areas.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to an open-door policy aimed at addressing the needs and aspirations of the people. He also urged Islamic scholars to intensify prayers for peace and unity in the state and across Nigeria.
Governor Aliyu commended Muslim clerics for their efforts during Ramadan, particularly for conducting Tafseer sessions that educated the faithful on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. He encouraged them to continue teaching the core principles of Islam, especially the Five Pillars.
In his response, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, praised the Governor for executing people-oriented projects across the state and urged him not to relent.
He assured the Governor of the support of the Sultanate Council and commended security agencies for their efforts in safeguarding lives and property. The Sultan also called on Nigerians to continue praying for the nation’s leaders and urged Sokoto residents to support the current administration.
The visit concluded with a luncheon hosted by the Sultan in honour of the Governor and his delegation.
