Sokoto Govt Distributes Clothes, Shoes to Orphans Ahead of Eid

The Sokoto State Government has distributed new clothes, shoes, and other essential items to children at the state orphanage to enable them celebrate the upcoming Eid el‑Fitr with joy and dignity.

The gesture, carried out through the Sokoto State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, saw each child receive three sets of clothing, a pair of shoes, and other welfare materials as part of efforts to support vulnerable groups during the festive period.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, said the initiative was meant to make the children feel loved and included as Muslims mark the end of Ramadan.

He noted that the administration’s humanitarian programmes reflect leadership values influenced by former governor and senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
Sifawa also donated ₦1 million personally to support the children’s welfare. Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Asabe Balarabe, described the distribution as part of ongoing efforts to ensure orphans celebrate the festival in a joyful and dignified manner.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, while the orphanage management commended the state government for the timely intervention.
