Nigerian Army Debunks Alleged Attack on Kukah’s Cathedral in Sokoto
The Nigerian Army has described as false reports alleging an attack on Matthew Hassan Kukah and the Sokoto Catholic Cathedral.
In a statement relesed on Saturday, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, spokesperson for the 8 Division under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said the information circulating on social media is misleading and has no basis in reality.
He explained that the viral post, which claimed that armed men attacked the Bishop’s residence and the cathedral, is entirely unfounded and should be disregarded.
The Army reassured residents that Bishop Kukah is safe and continues to carry out his Easter engagements without any interruption.
GaskiyaCast further noted that security agencies have maintained a strong presence across Sokoto State, ensuring that residents celebrate the Easter period in peace.
Authorities urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information and instead rely on official sources, reaffirming their commitment to protecting lives and maintaining security across the state.
