BREAKING: Nasiru Gawuna Dumps APC Amid Kano Political Realignments

A former Deputy Governor of Kano State and 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasiru Gawuna, has officially resigned from the ruling party.

In a resignation letter dated March 29, 2026, and addressed to the APC chairman of Gawuna Ward in Nassarawa Local Government Area, Gawuna stated that his decision to leave the party was entirely personal and voluntary, taking immediate effect.

He expressed gratitude to the APC for the platform and opportunities given to him during his time as a member, noting that he remains appreciative of the support he received.

Gawuna, who served as the running mate to former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and later emerged as the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, did not reveal his next political destination.

His resignation comes at a time of growing political shifts in Kano State, as key stakeholders continue to realign ahead of future elections.

Meanwhile, sources indicate that the former deputy governor is expected to meet with the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his Miller Road residence, further fueling speculations about his next political move.
